What does light mean to you? It’s likely you haven’t asked yourself this. Think about it for a moment. It’s quite something isn’t it? It’s actually interesting.

Light is not something you can touch, but it gives you the most powerful gift: it allows you to see. It’s the moment where we express gratitude for that.

Diwali is a festival where we come together as one and celebrate light. Spiritually it represents the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. The main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, new moon night, and everyone celebrates it by placing lights on housetops, outside doors and windows, around temples and other buildings.

We take one moment. One moment where we are sharing the same feeling, one moment where we are lighting up the sky, one moment where we release our fears, one moment when our hearts beat as one. We close our eyes and defeat the darkness. Together.

So what does light mean to us? We can’t touch it, but we feel it in that moment. Light for us is love.

Happy Diwali.
